Sentiero Italia CAI Sardinia
The Sentiero Italia CAI begins its extraordinary journey from Santa Teresa Gallura, in the far north of Sardinia. Here, where crystal-clear waters meet the rugged granite rocks of Gallura, starts a path that crosses the entire island from north to south across 28 stages. The Sardinian section offers breathtaking landscapes: from the Gennargentu mountains—the wild heart of the island preserving ancient pastoral traditions—to the lush forests of Montarbu and Settefratelli, up to the limestone peaks of the Supramonte in Orgosolo and Oliena.
Along this stretch, hikers immerse themselves in unspoiled nature where the scent of Mediterranean scrub blends with the millenary legacy of the Nuragic civilization. Small mountain villages preserve authentic flavours and the warm hospitality that defines the island. The Sardinian route is a perfect introduction to Italy’s landscape variety, alternating high peaks with verdant valleys, preparing walkers for the wonders that follow across the rest of the peninsula.
