Situated at an altitude of 2,165 metres in the magnificent Rochemolles Valley, Rifugio Scarfiotti is surrounded by alpine meadows, mountain lakes and impressive peaks that characterize this unspoiled corner of the Italian Alps.
An ideal destination for hikers, families, cyclists and mountain enthusiasts, the refuge offers meals, accommodation and a warm, genuine welcome in a friendly and authentic mountain environment throughout the summer season.
Its strategic location provides access to numerous hiking and mountaineering routes, including Lake Rochemolles, Colle Sommeiller and several panoramic trails through the breathtaking landscapes of the Cozie Alps.
Rifugio Scarfiotti is the perfect place to experience the mountains in their purest form, far from traffic and everyday stress, surrounded by nature, spectacular views and the unique atmosphere of high altitude.
By Car / Motorcycle
Take the A32 Turin–Bardonecchia motorway and exit at Bardonecchia. Follow the signs for Rochemolles and continue along the valley road to the refuge.
The road is subject to a toll fee of €10.00 per vehicle.
Please note that the road is closed to motor vehicles every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
By Train
Take the Turin–Bardonecchia railway line and get off at Bardonecchia station.
During the summer season, shuttle services are available to Rochemolles village. From there, the refuge can be reached on foot via marked trails in approximately 3 hours.
By Foot
From Bardonecchia, reach Rochemolles village either on foot or by summer shuttle service.
From the village, follow the marked hiking trails leading up the valley to Rifugio Scarfiotti through some of the most beautiful alpine scenery in the area.
By MTB / Gravel Bike
Route 1 : From Bardonecchia, follow the paved road to Rochemolles village and continue on the unpaved mountain road leading directly to the refuge.
Route 2 : From Bardonecchia, reach the Frejusia Reservoirs and follow the historic Decauville trail. Once you reach the Rochemolles Valley dirt road, continue to the refuge.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the road is reserved exclusively for pedestrians and cyclists, offering a particularly enjoyable outdoor experience.

Opening Season 2026
Rifugio Scarfiotti is expected to be open continuously from mid/late June 2026 until September 30, 2026.
Depending on weather conditions and visitor demand, the opening period may be extended into October 2026.
